Let me say first, I am a Christian saved by Jesus Christ. For disclosure purposes I don’t really ally myself with one denomination or another, but if I had to pick Baptist is the closest to my personal theology. I will also point out that the information I am presenting to you came from a Christian organization. I am also not one to just simply bash one’s religion or their views; however, that does not mean we do not have a critical eye and evaluate just like we did with Obama and his Reverend Wright. Rick Perry unfortunately has some questionable religious ties, specifically to those associated with the concept of Dominionism. What is Dominionism? In a nut shell it is the Christian version of Shariah law. These individuals misinterpret Genesis 1:28 which reads:
“And God blessed [ Adam and Eve ] and God said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
Most Christians interpret this to basically be good stewards of the planet etc. However, Dominionism goes a bit further by creating a government with a law codified by the Bible and that Christians are to rule (bet that won’t get convoluted, disagreeable, contentious…pick one). Now I do believe that our system of government is based in Judeo-Christian values; however, as evident in our founding documents we were not meant to have a theocracy as well as to not have the church persecuted by the state. In Revelation 3:1-6 the state church was considered the dead church. (note the 7 churches represent more than just a history; however, I don’t want to delve too deep into theology).
So now to the point, in this News Watch by The Berean Call they expose Perry’s ties to a rather strange breed of Dominionist Christians. One could say Perry is ignorant and does not know what he is getting into and innocent in all of this. However, as the information revels I am not so sure as it seems he does know what he is getting into.
